dads got a new one and it is now very hard to start. when he pours boiling water over the converter it helps tho. what would this indicate?- dirty converter? if this is the case how do we go about cleaning it? any other reasons it could be doing it?

The Vialle convertors are s**t, and very very very expensive, they're well known for their problems.
As the guys have said, if it's under warranty take it back, if it's not you're up for a small fortune. They're a very complex convertor, if you don't know what you're doing then leave it alone. |

have you checked spark plugs. my brother has au e-gas(dif motor i know) and it was hard to start and turned out to be the plugs. still cranks a bit longer than a petrol equivilent but thats normal.

Pouring hot water over the convertor as mentioned in the first post is great advice. Coldest weather I can remember since last winter and EGas not happy.
Wouldn't go this morning, just cranked continuosly. Tried again tonight with same issue. Used hot water and gave it a few taps (read it can loosen a bit of wax), Cranked and started after 4-5 seconds. Thanks GRN WGN, your 6 y.o. post still doing good. |
