I have spent 7 years in ford service workshops, including also working as an NRMA/RAC patrolman, so i suspect i am pretty well qualified to talk about the issues these cars have and fixes for them. I am sure cleaning them will work as well but there is simply no need if the car has had the updated calibration. I wonder how many of these cars you speak of have been calibrated by ford to fix it, and than had the owners flash tune re-installed, thus deleting the fix. |

Majority of what i know with these cars that have come into work,have had this reprogram and with no success in helping prevent running rough and missfiring till it has sufficient oil pressure in the valve train.
I myself have worked at a Ford Dealership and know about these common faults.I also have a couple mates that work at this Dealership where i used to work and they update me on what common faults Falcons and other makes have so im in the loop.But this problem only exists in from mostly the early BA's,i have seen it once in a BF.

Yesterday i replaced the throttle body gasket and gave the throttle itself a good cleanout, now i have a perfect idle again, glad it was a simple fix.

well i just got the auto transmission serviced, and there is nothing wrong there, its now at my mechanic, i believe that the problem with it could be that the timing would have been advanced on the motor when the after market gas system was installed with the previous owner. what i understand of it is, that the timing could have been changed (advanced?) which would change the engines power, and the TPS might not be sending the right information for the changed/advanced timing. i have told the mechanic my thoughts, and am waiting on results...

Because I too have crap Idle, and the pcv valve has stopped working on mine now... but as my car is getting painted there is nothing I can do about it until I get the car back. Sounds like it's a common problem...

I reckon i might invest in an oil catch can, as when i took the throttle off there was a thick film of oil inside the throttle and on the throttle blade too.

ok, been to 4 mechnics today, no1 can help me, its not my O2 senser and not a vacume leak. could be a faulty sensor i rekon, but no1 has been any real help. car is booked in on thurs morning, but this is absolute bull.......

and there is no way to advance the timing on a BA as there is not distributor, derrr, haha....... so its not that, it is something with my engine, the faults that we got were all 6 injectors lines. but that cause the gas cuts them off.. so i have no idea anymore, not happy with it.....

How does one tell if the PCV valve is still working? The one on my engine still *clacks* when shaken, i assume that's what they're supposed to do... One question, why are there two rocker cover breathers, one at the back of the engine with a valve and the other which just vents straight to the intake pipe just before the throttle? I could never understand why one has a valve and the other doesn't... |

ohk so i got it put on the dyno 2day. a few different runs, on gas i got 80kw. petty without the intake pipe was 132kw, then another run (same conditions) power was all over the place. these mechnics said i should go to ford dealer ship, i showed the guys at ford the dyno sheets and they tried to send me to a gas specialist, this really peed me off cause its obvoiuse that its nothing to do with the gas, the power was all over the place on petty... i talked them into looking at it on friday. the only thing left to check is the ECU i guess, and ford are the only people to do that as far as i know........i cant believe that ive been to 5 different mechnics, then ford wants to send me away to a gas specialist..........

How many KM's has the car done? Have you checked your plugs? Coils are pretty prone to failing...
