BA XT's do have TC... which is always on when you turn the car on... which kinda sucks. you should know you own a XT... it is the top rectangle button in the set of 2 buttons between the steering column and the headunit Every XT I've ever seen has nothing there, although it might have been optional from the factory now that I think about it. My XR6 has traction control and the buttons you describe but I've never seen it on an XT. Besides, my XT had no problems smoking it up Serious? what year model XT? mine is an 03 and it has the fancy lil button... that would suck to have TC on all the time... no drifty drifty's... Arm79... You never know where the line is untill you have crossed over it... |

was speaking to a guy at sinclair ford and apparently TC was an option on the XT and if you don't have the button you don't have traction control.
(don't know how reliable this is) However yesturday it was raining and the roads were at slippery as s**t and to be quite frank i've spun em up better in my old EA in the dry!!!! I quess the tire size may make a difference as well as i have the XR mags. tyres are 235/45/17's compared to my old 205/65/15's

(don't know how reliable this is) That's correct. There will also be a light on the dashboard that lights up when the traction control system is preventing wheelspin. And I don't know why people seem to be having so much trouble getting their BA's to spin and pointing at phantom traction control systems.. you just have to learn to drive

rolling at 40 in my dads ba in sports mode and went to third and pinned it. the higher the revs the more it puts you back in your seat but bogged down quite a bit to start with. and the EA probably had stractors and a desent cam, and maybe an insain p plater too.

I dont have traction control cause in the wet, it spins like crazy but in the dry, I can stall up the auto and i'd be lucky to get a chirp off the line.

Me and a friend of mine had a drag on a private road the other day. The only mod my EF Mont has is a KnM panel. Friends car is a VP exec with a 2.5" ESA zaust. I woulda thought he'd smash me off the line then I'd overhaul him over 70km/h, but i was just in front off the line and just kept gettin further away as we sped up! Quite proud of the ol' mont, she may as well be stock, lol.

yea my car has similar sort of lag off the line, then it gets to about 2500-3000rpm then straight away lights up both rear tyres and boots the rear end. I have driven a non turbo ba xr6 though and no exactly what you mean, they are a slug off the line and my mates stock ba xr6 will not do a brake liner no matter how hard i try.

I bet you floored it of the lights too. full throttle of the line isn't going to get you anywhere.
3000rpm is were you make the highest torque output for the i6, learn where your max torque output is & use it. flat footing it of the line makes you bog down & over reving it, you'll just end up bouncing of the rev limiter were there less amount of torque. theres an art to making a standard falcon pulling away like its got an extra 50kw. target your max torque output & stay there until you gain enough momentum to over the weight of the car, then let the KW's do the rest. unless your b**ch is a bit sick.

Weird...
I've only been in three BA's (an XT, a ute and an XR6T), but all three of them would KILL an ED (auto) off the line... Yeah, they aren't the hot off the mark like a manual XR , but they ain't that bad... It's the gearing (in the autos) that makes them feel a little sluggish of the mark. |

Our ED does 0-60 is 3 seconds. All it has that I can tell is a 2.5" zorst.
And from what I can tell from our experiences with the BAII we used (hire car hehe), they are s**t down low. We found a nice hill with a corner in Bellingen, stopped, and then floored it round, not even a peep from the tires. Not sure if that is an indicator, but I reckon if we did that in the ED there'd be a bit of action. |
