Hey guys new to the forum! I have an issue that I have googled the he'll out of but decided I need actuall advice.
I know there are threads on this already but I figured if I explained my case I could get a more definitive answer.

I recently purchased a 2003 ba xr6 falcon, with 120k on the clock. Straight away I dropped the oil and oil filter and replaced. I did air filter, fuel filter, plugs and coils. And replaced the cat converter with a brand new one.

After a few days of driving I noticed a rough idle. So I sprayed some throttle body cleaner around the inlet and it sucked it in so got a mate to help me to do the inlet manifold gasket and while I had the apart I noticed throttle body gasket was broken and replaced it aswell. I ran some throttle body cleaner through it and wiped it all out. I cleaned the maf with maf cleaner without touching it with my hands. Put it all back together and rough idle is still there!

The car runs awesome other than this. No misfiring under acceleration. Picks up good. Motor feel likes its been treated well. But this idle problem is getting to me. It's not all the time and some times its worse than others. but it will do it at least once a day. So I'm now thinking maybe the TPS or maybe an 02 sensor? But I've spent some money on this car now and would like more advice before I proceed with anything else. Cheers guys!

They were done about 2000kms ago, probably not even that long, last month roughly. At the same time as plugs.

I would have thought if it was a bad coil I would feel the problem when driving too. But under load the car is fine, accelerates good and coasts fine. Problem only seems to be at idle

What did it cost you for them?

That could be your problem

Stock genuine coils all the way. That's what i hear everyone say and recommend. stock ones are available on egay for around the $250 mark not much less than direct from ford.

Cost me $180 for all 6,but I get trade price so I don't know what they would retail.

Car is in the shop right now getting a transmission cooler, a transmission service and a diff oil change. When I get it back I might get the spark plug cover off and pull the coils one at a time and see if it changes the idle. I kind of ruled out coils because they are so new. But if people are saying genuine only then I guess I should check it out.

IF you still have the old coils .. replace the new ones with the old units & see what happens, if it runs fine you know what the problem is  . car can still accelerate coz my other halfs did too  with 'similar' problem :?: ohh & i priced coils from burson's & got 165 trade price  also with the inlet manifold apart did you check the "EVAP canister purge solenoid" that should be hanging down under the aircon hose at the back of ya engine bay RHS looking at it ? we also had problems with that :?
