im just about to buy a ba xt 4 speed auto and im wonting to get it down to stcok ba XR6T times if not a tiny bit faster. i have about 7k to spend but if i can i would like to use about 2k of that on gas(hopely i can gain some power:D) and another 1k finishing stereo
first off lol i wont go turbo, i no it would be easyer but im p plater and cbf with the trouble it will bring
this is just what i have heard is good, im open to anything else
XR6T/XR8/GT ect zorst with a high flow cat
pacemaker extrators ( i have seen some like 990 or 995 or something, whats the differnce? which is better)
sorry agian not to sure whats its called but some 20% under car and you get about 10kw at wheels and its only liek 350$(ill find out whats its called)
shift kit if theres one
CAI which is best? or combo of stuff

Mods in this order mate:

1. typhoon airbox (comes with secondary duct)
2. K&N panel filter
3. 2 1/2 inch mandrel bent exhaust, high flow cat, pacemakers 4490's or 4495's (4495's are more expensive and give you more top end, but I have no problems with my 4490's)
4. 3.9 LSD (no, fuel economy doesn't get worse unless your constantly on the hwy)
5. Underdrive pulleys (slight improvement)
6. After you have finished doing all your mods, then get a capa flash on the ECU and get it dyno tuned

You might want to also consider getting a transmission cooler upgrade. These mods will give you the most performance, there are more little bits and pieces you can do however I wouldn't bother with em. Brake upgrade would be my recommendation too as the stock brakes are pieces of s**t.

also, I havent run the 1/4 with my new dif and I still havent got the ECU flashed yet so i'd say next time I run with a tune, I should be well into the 14's.

Engine out for a full rebuild.

Forged crank, rods, high comp pistons, billet oil pump gears, flowed head, big cams, bigger valve, heavier springs, custom tuned inlet manifold, tuned extractors and exhaust, injectors, fuel pump, torque converter ... just a few ideas.

If you want to go fast, your gonna pay. And if you do major work to the engine, you'll get plenty of unwanted attention. Not to mention it will be a pig to drive around.

Go for a set of extractors and exhaust system, second CAI, high flow air filter and a tune. The shift kit would be a good idea, as would a bigger auto cooler it your going to make it work harder.

good luck getting a xt with a few mods to catch an XR6T....

unless you fully rebuild motor with race kits and the like.

if you want a resonabley wuick NA car i would got with CAI, good extractors with hiflow cat and 2.5 single muffler exhaust. then be looking at a good tune to get everything just right, but you wont get much difference, and diff if you want better launching speed for drags... but you always gonna loose them aroudn corners cause the XR's will have sports suspension where as ur xt wont....

should have gotten an xt if you wanted some real good performance so u can matcht eh suspension....

Man these N/A 4.0 DOHC motors run some weird times...

I've heard of mid 14's for a stock BF with the 6 speed auto and high 15's for a stock BA 4spd and everything in between.

Either every single owner is doing something dramatically different at the strip or all is not even in the N/A 4.0 DOHC world...

With around $5k you could get your N/A 4.0 DOHC to run almost as fast as a stock XR6T, but she wont feel like a stock XR6T dude...

100% agree, should get you into 14s.
If you want more, add a decent high stall to the BTR and you'll run quicker then stock BA XR6Ts at the strip.
