Hi all,
I have a BA 05 6 Cyl Auto wagon ex Telstra had it a few years. I have an intermittent problem with it.. When I start it (hot or cold start) sometimes the motor revs very high..I turn it off and restart it and it idles fine...The other thing is, when it does idle high and you dont turn off and do a restart, after a k or so the engine light comes on and it goes into limp mode..you have to pull over turn it off and on and it goes fine again..any thoughts greatly appreciated..other then this it is a great old beast. Many thanks. Cheers, Barry |

I had a similar experience and it went away after I changed the Steering column. The BA ignition switch was a bad make and cause so many issues.

This sounds very similar to what was happening in my BA,when you start it up it would rev high and slowly come down but only as far as 13/1400 rpm, then when you put in gear it would go into shut down mode. With mine it was a inlet manifold gasket,if your normal rpm is above 1100 rpm I would say you have a gasket leak or at least a vacuum leak.
Cheers Johnny.
