Ha ha ha... that's a fairly important detail, wouldn't you say? "pigs can fly man, i've done most of the research. The only thing I haven't confirmed is whether they have wings.."

Another question.. If the sumps the main problem, why couldn't a custom sump be made up to fit?
stockstandard, why is the engine management going to be expensive to fit?? |

Well I dunno much about the BA ECU, but if you want VCT on an aftermarket EMS, say goodbye to your wallet.
And hello to a MoTec.

Jet XR is running a wolf3d in his BA conversion. It uses the boost controller output from the wolf to control the VCT, it works quite well. No need for Motec, just a $1300 wolf. All the same, I don’t see why you wouldn’t just use the BA ECU, since there is that many flash tuners for it now, and you get the advantage of keeping all the factory ecu features, like knock sensors, and so on

There is no reason you couldn't keep the BA ECU, and us it to its full extent, I think the problem would be the fact that it will require other things to work, its dependant on a few things (sorta like smartlock, but more complicated lol), and it would take some time to do.
Id prefer a BA ECU over a Wolf, or a motec anyday. Cheers

JetXR has a big f**k whole in his bonnet where the engine sticks out becuase it's too long, and he f**k the legal structure of his car by cutting into the kframe to fit the sump. The BA engine DOES NOT f**k FIT, or everyone would be doing it. |

Im no expert on BA engine management, but it is my understanding that it is connected to everything. As said above, it would probably be somewhat similar to converting a EA to smartlock just with more stuff.
Your probably going to have to us BA ECU, looms, ignition, etc. Basically anything that the ECU looks at might need to be changed so possibly even ABS/traction control. If you had an xr6t wreck you could just start moving stuff over till it worked, which would be the only way to legally get it up and running. On that note, I hear that JetXR got one of those "dont bother trying to re-register this car" defects after the conversion. Its now up for sale (for $26k)

didn't think you were allowed to sell a car with that particular defect on it ? |

Just be happy with the SOHC cam kids. Look at VLt guys like Rajab, getting insane pace out of RB30's without going to DOHC hybrids.
