It's not as difficult as people make it out to be really, it just takes some patience and a bit of research, i'm right in the guts of doing this conversion on my car, it's really not that hard when you know what you have to do.

I havn't done it yet, but i'm leaning toward modifying the front of the sump to clear the crossmember. This is my progress thread that i just started:

Sorry to take over your thread dave0, i'll let you get back to it haha.

if you wanna go turbo, costs increase 3x

BA motor yes, could get to 10k

the ecu, AEM is currently developing the 8860 to run DVCT, but at the moment i think only Autronic and Motec can run it... theres $3500 installed right there.

tuning add another $500... maybe more, dont know how easy DVCT is to tune compared to SOHC

$1500 for an engine - based on what matt payed

K-frame or sump would have to be modified.
around $100

would probably need to get a new gearbox, or get a custom bellhousing flange made up.
$300 ish ... CNC costs a bit

and since there's a flange added to the bellhousing, the tailshaft would have to be reduced in length by that amount.
budget $400 to $500

and then there's all the wiring looms and such... gotta cut and fit them all.
an auto electrian would charge a good $500 for that.

and with the above, thats around $7000 ... providing you do the install and fitting yourself...

and thats also not including the usual $100 worth of oils, fluids, coolant. but thats mandatory... so i dont count it

From all Ive heard of late with how many people are doin it, if you can pick up an engine for cheap enough on Ebay or the wrecker total should be 4-5k, with turbo pushing that maybe another 2 higher max. Its not so uncommmon anymore, so there are more and more prople writing tech on how to do this and that... etc

Nah man, waaaay off. I have spent nearly $4000 on the whole conversion, $1500 for the engine, around $2000 on ECU (installed), and a few hundred bucks for other bits and pieces.

Mounting the gearbox up to the engine is sorted by using an AU or BA bellhousing, ALL bolt holes line up, no machining required, i picked up my AU bellhousing for $100. No need for adapters and tailshaft modifications.

Also if you pay someone to do the work for you, you need a good slappin'! Haha :D
