The Mrs is complaining that the BA we have has developed a rough idle at times and will occasionaly stall.
What could be a cause for this

Try cleaning out the throttle body... this is a fairly common problem in the BA.

Can also be the TPS (throttle position sensor) playing up.
When were the plugs / coils last checked / changed?
Usually a easy fix if its one of those.

Throttlle body may need a clean, spark plugs are due for a change, fuel filter can be full of crap, fault TPS may be faulty, coil packs may need a change, injectors full of crap. air fillter may be very tirty, fuel reg may be full of crap, cat may be on its way out, etc, etc. list goes on mate..

Best do your cheapest stuff if not already done like replace fuel filter, clean air filter, clean Throttle body, take your plugs out and clean them and regap then if needed, clean up your fuel reg, tap up your coil packs.

then if you want change coil pack etc, etc or get it scnanned..

Cheers

Hi,

What do you mean by "get it scanned"???

Oh, what's the best way to test coil packs?

Thanks...

cam solinoids can gum up with s**t oil too. a flash update was released to purge the system at startup. Dads BA used to do it when it first started on occasion. restart it and it was fine

My bet is the inlet gasket is leaking, try tightening the bolts.

By scanned, i mean get it to a mechanic to do a diagnostics test on it with their scanner.
They will tell you if there is anything wrong electronically.

When was the flash update released? Was it also for a BA Turbo?

Also, how does one clean the fuel reg? (Instructions please!)
