Good choice they are very nice cars. As far as i'm aware the only real Problem is with the brake disks warping quickly. The fix is to get some slotted rotors and either some Green Stuff pad or Bendix Ultimate pads. Other than that have fun.

I could be wrong and i'm sure if I am I will be corrected but the mixer shaft was a problem in the BA series 1 i think? Series 2 has the stronger shaft I think. When it breaks you get no control overthe temp from the vents, no matter what the display says. As for the Brakes shuddering at 100kph, means the disks are warped and will need machining, and like i said it doesnt take long after they have been machined that they warp again and will need to be re-machined again  DBA and RDA do good slotted rotors fairly cheap that are a direct replacement for the stock disks, just shop around for the best price.

The shaft for the heater CAN break but they don't always. It happens on ALL BA and BF and has even happened on FGs. The shaft is about $49.00 but requires removal of the dash to get at it.

There are a few problems with the BA/BF models but really no more than other cars have. Just enjoy your car, make sure you service it regularly and look at getting better discs and pads like has been suggested.
