Nah you dont need cam gears. They help but they arent that important IMO. RSWPN made 280rwkw ish with no cam gear mods at all using a ems 8860.

My car ran good when it ran too. I reckon the ECU was faulty or something. It would run fine then die and not start again for an unknown reason. Maybe it was wired up wrong.

I have done it. Send me $1000 and I will send you the blueprints of how it's done.

Cheers,

The Atomic cam gears mentioned were to delete the VCT actuator and in it's place have a vernier gear instead.

so the vernier gears just mean you can adjust them to where ever YOU want them.
obviously no VCT, i'm curious to know what the cam phasers do when they get no signals at all.

Wasn't it discussed that because they are oil pressure based, and if the solenoid isn't pulsed, they just go all over the joint with oil pressure?

You'd need something that a)can read the cam position and then b)pulse the solenoid in relation to that reading.
Hence why boost control on the wolf3d worked I guess with JETXR.
Cam position instead of boost, still pulsing a solenoid.
Dunno how you would take a signal from the cams and turn it into a 0-5v that the boost would be though...

Having said that though, you'd think you could just close the solenoid, have zero pressure and they would have to be locked into a neutral position.
Doubt Ford would have made it so if the solenoid fails they fully retard or advance, possibly causig PV clearance problems.

yeah, i'd imagine they'd have a fail safe position.
id' be suprised if they just moved all over the place.

if you can use boost control then surely you could do something along the lines of a RPM switch or something.

so hard to get a definitive answer on the cams.
