For the $4500 indicated i imagine you could get more power from an AU engine?

But that's not to suggest that people wouldn't still choose the twin cam.

yeah but the AU motors are getting aged now, you could spend the money, but think of the turbo applications, using the BA motor or turbo BA engine the whole power to weight would be pretty good, and really no dramas drive in, drive out a few days later,

it also opens up the fridge on BA go fast parts, no doubt that if you get this conversion and then save another grand a simple tune etc could out do any done up AU motor

id say its more the legality of the process.

Ba turbo motor in e series with stock ECu (plus probably brake upgrade) = pretty easy to get it on the road. and easily achieve good power.

AU motor plus turbo to get good power you need aftermarket ECU, = EPA, Engineers so on.

of course this is coming from someone in Victoria, with their stupid laws....

So is the idea that the BA/BF ecu runs the motor, while the car's wiring and ecu stays in place, that's called a "piggyback" isn't it?

If so, are they completely isolated from each other or do they need areas of integration?

No... theres quite a few that have been done now.
the problem is, unless someone posts it on a forum, no one knows about it.

UPDATE. The car is now finished. Many thanks to Darren & the boys.
In regards to the wiring only the main engine loom is required. The pcm can simply be flash tuned to do what you want, We used a capa flash 2
as it allows more pcm program than the early flash unit. A mixture of bf
and eb heater hoses were used as the eb and bf heater cores are on different sides. The front crossmenber bar was cut & rewelded around
30mm forward. The bf & eb exhaust engine pipe were cut & shut together.
The engine does clear the bonnet but the centre bonet brace was removed. The bf diagnostic port must be retained to flash the pcm. A custom high pressure power steering was made buy enzed. We had to cut a hole in the sump casting for the clutch cable also we used a t5 manual whitch bolts up fine at the top but the 2 lower bolt holes do not line up. You can retain the e series flywheel and clutch assembly as it bolts straight on.

Thanks Owen.

Cant FTG supply all the gear to get this going so people can fit it all at home and tow it to a flash tuner to get it running?

some people prefer to let someone else do it so they can point blame when things go wrong or overbudget.

But I meant to say:

How much will that cost?
