so you guys are using an EB gearbox = t5 manual with a AU bellhousing to suit the BA motor
is the t5 strong enough for the BA motor??????
i would think that the gearbox would be very limited in how much power you can get out of it??

any advice on this would be great thanks :D

Yeah, T5's aren't great... but they stand up to a bit of abuse..

And if you bolt up the T5, then you can bolt in pretty much anything, most notably the T5Z, and the T56...

But I'm guessing this is done on a budget, and the T5 will work, so until it breaks, why change it?

Cheers

How would the standard 4 speed EB trans go with this BA motor?

I dont think the BTR would hold up to it, They arent a real strong box eithier, I think the T5 will be alright for awhile, but wont be that good with the Turbo.

Come On Guys

The BTR was a factory fitment in BAs when they were first released. It should be fine, as long as the driver knows how to look after a car properley.

It was the electronics that allowed for the sports shift ect. The box is the same.

Highly recommended not to use the eb transmission as you will have
nothing but problems.

Better off to use the ba auto as you can then use the ba pcm to run it as wiring on the eb auto is different to ba.

Whilst the wiring is different, thats not a reason not to use the EB Trans.

The EB Trans were very reliable overall - perhaps a little noisy though. If you run a TCM to control the trans it will work fine (and just use the BA PCM to run the engine).

Guys - you need to think laterally. I dont see that so often. Were here *because* we like playing, not because we want to take the safest way out of everything. Its a hackers club!.

I was just asking as I have an EB and to keep costs down, I thought I could use the current trans. I have a son who is a trans specialist, so I guess if any mods are needed then he is the person for it.
