Hmmm...re-engineering the K-Frame would cost you a fair few...though I always wondered if you could just put the BA K-Frame into the E-Series ones? or totally different mounting points?

someone put a BA kframe in an EL.... not a simple exersise.
lots of cutting and welding, the mounts are different.

XR8 dismantler is referring to BA to AU's, his already mounted the BA into the AU without to much worries. won't be to much fuss with engineers report either.

im not argueing that it cant be done, im asking why would u bother? the costs involved would far far far outweigh the benifits...

would the AU XR6 owners with VCT be able to utilise their ECU to control the VCT on the BA motor?
I am assuming it won't becuase the BA motor having twin VCT

xr8 dismantler wrote: we have successfully fitted a BA 4ltr into a AU falcon , and got it running using the AU PCM. sounds awesome.. looking forward to seeing dyno graphs and lotsa photo's..
it just clears the bonnet (with a slight re-mould of 1 of the bonnet ribs) hooks up using the AU coil pack , and most AU accessories. no cutting of wiring looms it all just plug together , some brakets need to be made for water pipes, accel cable and a/c pump new hose needs to be made for power steering . this is a engine change that could be done in a weekend i will be developing this conversion in the next few weeks, and running a car up on the dyno to see what power we can get out of it. then onto a e series!! |

motor is in and running, but we have run out of time at the moment
lots of good wrecks have been coming in and we are flat out on other things, we know now it can be done!!!!!! we will get back to this project soonish but if anyones interested in the conversion i would be more than happy to discuss what mods we made to get this sucker in . i will list a basic summary here sump is std BA wiring loom on engine is AU top on inlet manifold & throttle body is AU AU crank angle sensor wiring will plug onto BA C.A.S BA power steering hose requires a bend down the rack end then it will fit on AU a/c compressor can be mounted onto BA compressor mount but needs to be spaced forward slightly so the belt lines up. this can be done with some 25mm angle iron and some new bolts. AU water pipes can be fitted to BA motor with small mods AU coil pack and leeds AU engine mounts AU alternator AU knock sensor can be fitted to BA block AU oil & temp sensors can be fitted BA air intake AU accel cable needs a bracket for mounting AU exhaust fits up to BA manifold AU injectors fuel lines will plug straight on i would suggest an edit for the AU ecu , at this stage we cannot get the engine to run smooth at low revs. (but we needed more time really!!) i hope this help with anyone wanting to put one of these motors into a AU or earlier ford |

Wow thanks Darren. Just what I needed to know to get the engine running. Once you have figured out the EDIT though I think it would be much easier for me to get the engine running...just a problem mounting the enging in the EL/EA depending what I want to do.
cheers phong =P~

cheers phong =P~ mounting the engine isnt a problem, little bit of cutting here and there and a humped bonnet!!!! i am going to throw one into a e series to see what all the fuss is about. alloy can be easily welded , engine mounts can be modified and if need be xmembers can be swapped and or modified , it really isnt that hard |

a beautiful day for AU owners. some pictures to show how the BA feels right at home.

i may look at getting some k frames modified to suit E series with BA / AU motors . and getting them approved by an engineer. may take a little while but an off the shelf k frame would be a good option for most people.
price might be a problem as i would expect $500 ish for the bolt in unit. what sort of intrest would we have?? |
