we have successfully fitted a BA 4ltr into a AU falcon , and got it running using the AU PCM.

it just clears the bonnet (with a slight re-mould of 1 of the bonnet ribs)
hooks up using the AU coil pack , and most AU accessories.
no cutting of wiring looms it all just plug together , some brakets need to be made for water pipes, accel cable and a/c pump
new hose needs to be made for power steering .

this is a engine change that could be done in a weekend

i will be developing this conversion in the next few weeks, and running a car up on the dyno to see what power we can get out of it.

then onto a e series!!

good work hey, except with your ba smartshield bypass would it be that much harder to setup coil on plug and dual VCT Control etc?

Posting to keep it in my "watched topics" to see if pictures pop up.

Would also LOVE to see a doco. I have no doubt it would get the ball rolling and you would see a LOT more DOHC equipped Falcons on the road.

How much will it cost to ship over a BA XR6 from there to here. theres some dough to be made with all the BA motors piling up.
even better when you sus out all the parts kit for the conversion & sell as a package. it'll probably save us the hassle trying to trace or source all the correct parts.

Sounds good mate!

the problem with that is simply that the BA motor doesnt physcally fit in an E series engine bay without cutting the K frame, and that makes the car un-registerable, so electronics or not your still gonna have an illegal car...

did u hear about jetXR, his was engineered as far as i understand and he still got a "forget about re-registering this car" defect...

plus, have u seen engineers bills lately? you could sell the E series, put the money the motor etc will cost u along with engineers bills and buy a BA, complete with extra safety gear and suspension etc...
or buy an AU and forget the engineering...

i dont wanna shoot down good ideas, but sometimes ideas just take too much work... as well as the K frame it also doesnt clear the bonnet...

just because JETXR couldnt get it to fit, doesnt mean that if you come at it from a different direction it cant work. Hell, at first the only way people could get and AU engine to fit was to modify the K frame, then it moved to hacking fins off the sump, now you can buy ones with modified sumps ready to go in, maybe the BA motor only needs the same treatment

BA's most likely have the oil pump right behind the front of the sump... making things a lot more difficult when it comes to 'customising' the sump.

JETXR was never engineered and has a big hole in the kframe.
