I am needing to temporarily install a BA motor into a BF with a six speed auto.
I am assuming that the only differences are likely to be the Transmission oil cooler mounting. I assume that the crank is the same and I will be able to use the six speed flex plate on the BA crank. Anyone done this or have any ideas on doing this?

I'd hazard a guess there won't be a problem bolting up the auto to the BA motor, after all the BF's got both kinds of autos.
I'd say you'll run into some wiring differenced on the engine, BF's got dual knock sensors, extra O2 sensors etc. Surely other stuff I don't remember right now.

Good points, not worried about the wiring and the mounting of the dual knock sensors should be easily fixed. Forgot that there are BTR's behind some BF's so mechanically that should be OK. Still a question about the ZF oil cooler though.

They run through the radiator like the BTR's.
Only "R-Spec" FPV's (special model F6, and the GT40th and Cobra) got an additional trans cooler.

Not quite, mine at least runs a heat exchanger on the side of the block near the starter. My trans oil never reaches the radiator. It takes coolant through it to both warm the fluid on startup and cool it at operating temps. Not sure where the coolant comes from which is where my question is coming from.

Learned something new today.
6's get a block mounted heat exchanger as you say, 8's run it though the radiator.

Did you notice where the water lines come from?

Just a note on the water lines in the picture above, this still shows the transmision thermostat which for no longer make. You just permantly connect the cooler to the heater lines.

Short of it is if your only changing the basic motor you will be fine, i have a BF and a BA motor here and cant find any visual differences. Have tried to put a BF BOSS V8 into a BA and it was just a pain in the a**

Internal make no difference to fitting one up, the electrical can be overcome by using the loom from the receiving vehicle (BF got more sensors and such to meet Euro3 emissions).
