I've noticed the BA is a bit slow off the line but good at high revs probably cause of its vvt. what would you guys recomend to increase its responsiveness off the line with out using a stall converter? would an exhaust/extractor/air intake combo make a noticable dif? I wouldn't have any idea as i've never modded a car b4 (engine wise anyways). Also, i've noticed when you put it into sports shift, it is still automatic unless u click it first. Becasue it is in sport auto, would it be changing the gears automatically just as good as if you were driving it in manual mode?

my BA xr6 is abit more responsive from standing start since i put a BMC filter and AU xr8 air intake. I cant detect any difference at take off between auto and manual modes until you hit about 2500-3000 rpm then the manual is heaps more "spirited"

Diff!
They are sluggish off the line cause of the long a** ratio in the XT's.

you could get a tween BA/BF turbo intake snorkel for $170 from ebay or you could make your own. extractor/ free flow exhaust system is a must & a good air filter.
new leads/spark plugs & a Good grounding kit should do the trick without breaking the bank.

mines pretty s**t until i hit 3000, then were moving! revs are going up and suddenly at 6000rpm ur making POWER!!! this is fantastic! THEN it gear shifts! :( the fun suddenly goes away!!! ford designed the motors wrong again! fukheads! they shouldve had longer strokes/crank/rods, smaller pistons and wider cam angles for more bottom end torque, i mean, thats what u want on the street, TORQUE! instead u gotta rev the lil barra to get some horses.

those donks need a 3.7 diff ratio BADLY!!! im looking for one, but i can seem to find one for under 1000!!! i allready spent too much on the bloody car! another 1000 on a diff is pushing it.

p.s. my barra beat a VS 5.0 on tuesday night :D

Dude, the 4.0L has a huge stroke. It's not the motor, it's the gearing. They make a lot more torque then their competitors.

Indeed.. 182kw with 380nm is a lot better then the 190kw and 340nm of a SV6 motor, for instance.

Agreed. It's not the engines fault (they are, in my opinion, the BEST Australian motor ever produced) it's the gearing.

Still, even with the standard Ford factory gearing, I wouldn't bag the 4.0 litre for not having enough touque....

Just a note, when you shift into PEFormance mode, it automatically shifts into 3rd... and then performs like the auto, but I think it changes gear at a higher RPM then in ADJ mode. Its like the Power / Econ switch...

I thought the power/econ switch just made firmer gear shifts.

3.7's would be sweet!!! but dont complain once you start driving your car on the freeway!!! itll be like driving in 3rd at 100km/h.

would the el/au falcons have same diffs as the BA? or is it a totally different design?

im after a 3.7 diff, anyone here knows where i can get one (not over 1 gran???)

longer stroke???? WTF it's too long already.

they have heaps of torque. the reason they get away with such tall gearing in the firs place
