hey all, ive got a leaky sump gasket, about 1lt every 5000 ive been loosing for the last 10x kms, any tips on changing it? i have access to a hoist etc but it looks like a bit of a messy unwanted job!

You can take the Crossmember off but you would need to be able to hold the motor in place.
Are you sure it is the sump leaking and not the rear main seal? |

its right at the front of the sump, can see the oil bead up abit right where the sump bolts on..

i would be looking at the front seal or timing case cover first..

that throws a spanner in me works!, ive washed the motor down completely and ran it up and its only from where the sump seals to the motor.. might try again and have a better looksee

cleaned it down again and it is coming from the drivers side front of the sump, not possible to drop the sump and slip a new gasket in papa smurf? got a hoist and an engine crane so could work something out if i need to remover the crossmember...

Considering they don't use gaskets, yeah it would be impossible to slip in a new one.
