howdy, considering (very strongly) about getting an its performance stage 3 engine for my eb (145 RWKW). anyway i was talking about this with my old man and he laughed and said 'yeah i will stil leave you behind' he has a standard BA, and i was just wondering how they would compare?

Haha, good on him. The EB is heaps lighter than a BA, you don't need all that much more power than you already have to beat a BA.
Do a few mods and race him to shut him up |

or you can just change your diff ratio and not tell him
3.7s is sure to leave him behind.

Is your car a manual? Well if it is, with the stage 3 kit you would leave your old man quite a few car lengths behind. The BA is just too fat

The BA motor will probably have very similar power to the stage three ITS. Mine has almost as much power as a stock BA now with JMM Dev3hl cam in it.
The BA though is very heavy and this is where you will carry the adavantge in power to weight to beat a BA. Powerwise though the BA DOHC VCT engine is very good for a factory stock engine. |

Hey twr7cx, the BA has different ratios to the AU mate AU 2.39/1.45/1.00/0.68 BA 2.50/1.49/1.00/0.68 1st and 2nd are slightly shorter

A BA auto tranny would be so bad then. What diff ratios do the 6's use (auto's mainly interested in)? AFAIK the XR6, Ghia, XT, what ever all use the same? |

AFAIK the XR6, Ghia, XT, what ever all use the same? Whats so bad about having a shorter 1st and 2nd? Many people complain that the 1st gear in the autos is too tall so at least they made some sort of improvement. It doesn't matter too much becasue the ba is redlined 250rpm higher so it sort of counters the effect of having a shorter gear. Imagine what it would have been like though if they left the old ratios with the new engine. Worst. As for diff ratios xt and ghia use 3.23 and xr 3.45.

my stock ef XR6 is only 1 second slower round eastern creek than a MkII BA XR6 and 5 seconds off a XR6 Turbo thats been edited.
so in hard driving situations there aint much in it.

besides any muppet can drive fast in a stright line, give em a corner or 2 and most people cant accelerate and push the loud pedal at the same time.
