G'day Fella's,
I have a BA ex Telstra wagon..very happy with it until today wouldn't start. Has full instruments laminated and has a tick sound from around fuse box under bonnet or there abouts. Have checked starter relay..leads, battery new, terminals, and fuses.I tapped this thing on the side of the engine bay? and the bludger started .Did this twice and worked twice,I assume a fluke?..what is it? and any ideas on why the bludger wont start. Many thanks for any help. Cheers, Baz |

component is a reset-able circuit breaker to protect against short circuits - not a genuine Ford item more likely to do with telstra accessories - does your smartshield light flash then turn off when you turn ignition to reds - if auto is it in park - does interior light work correctly

Hi Ted,
Thanks for letting me know what that thing is. I had a feeling it was to do with Telstra technicians phone, etc. I actually found what my problem was (touch wood I have fixed it). I jacked up the passenger side, laid underneath and reached up and jiggled the starter motor wires. Then tried to restart and it started. So, drove it up on ramps. and tightened positive cable on starter motor and cleaned up the single wire that goes to the starter solenoid. Have driven it to the city and back last night, probably started it approximately 20 times since, and has started every time. Luckily, it seems to have turned out to be a simple inexpensive problem. Thanks for your help, Regards Barry |
