I considering purchasing a written off 2005 BA XR6 Turbo(rear ended) how difficult would it be to have the dash, heaters, aircon ,centre console and running gear transplanted into a 2002 AU Fairlane as I want something different or would it be worthwhile chasing up a ex BA taxi and swapping everything over

its possible may take some fabricating but no doubt possible... put the motor in the fairlane for sure. with a taxi he body is usually the worst part.. good luck and bite the bullet

It make take some work I know but thats not a problem as I'm owner/manager of a Automotive restoration business down this way I've done a number of conversions ,I just wanted ppl's opinions if its worth doing, the thing that worries me is the heater/aircon location on the firewall

Hey if Glenneux can figure it out in his loungeroom then it cant be that bad.
I dunno about getting the dash and heater stuff to fit though, that would be the hard part. Might be easier to keep that part of the interior as an AU and change the heater pipes on the motor to suit. |

AU solves a majority of the clearance/mounting issues. the dash etc can be done, its been done into older cars and an AU is much closer to a BA then anything else so overall shape shouldn't be an issue. firewall/heaterbox issues would be the biggest problems, looks at IRONHORSE's thread, he replaced the firewall to get the heaterbox etc all in easily.
