Hi guys sorry if this has been brought up in another post
i have been dealing with a problem on my BA xt 2003 dedicated lpg not starting first kick (sometimes takes 5 tries to start it) i have struggled for around 3 months with this issue but now that the weather has been frigin cold in melb its getting worse have spent quite a bit of money and taken to ford and then other workshops expiation of problem starting the car after sitting in sun or motor war perfectly fine starting the car sitting in garage cold 3-5 turns to get it started (waiting 50-60 seconds with ignition on to let gas get up the lines) after first kick gets backfire from air box(thank god for the spring loaded box) second time car will either start or do the same as above tried the following (on a side not 2 different ford dealership service centers) took to ford when first started -stated nothing wrong ($80 just to look at it) took to ford in second month again stated nothing wrong but did service ($200) took to ford a month later they stated fuel mixing and converter issues(cleaned and re-tuned $300) took to local mechanic recommended dyno tune and changing filter in gas lines($200) took to different mechanic did exactly the same but actually gave me error code didn't know what it was ($500) spoke to ford regarding error code P1213 they stated the following in an email to me DTC # P1213 Description LPG Prime Solenoid Circuit DTC P1213 is reported if the LPG prime solenoid is malfunctioning Electrical Improper connection. Solenoid wiring open circuit or short circuit to VPWR or PWRGND. Other Potability PCM damaged or faulty anyone had this issue and if so can i repair it myself as ford are stating they can fix it but considering it went to ford multiple times my faith in ford dealers is well non existent any help appreciated (also if anyone can tell me what or where i can find the LPG Prime Solenoid Circuit is or have a wiring diagram much appreciated)

no one has any ideas on where i can start
does anyone have a wireing diagram at all?? i think it may be time to start looking for new car spending too much money on the BA i like fords but at this point in time am seriously getting over them lack of support from the ford techs is driving me insane

I'd say its just the connections on the solenoid either being loose or the solenoid dying. Egas motrs have the same converter right back to the AU dual fuel. I'll have a look at mine tomorrow and try and point you in the right direction at to what you should be looking at.

What i have found is that the issue lies with the waxy residue left from the gas on the jets! When its cold, the wax goes hard over the jets, not allowing the the gas to flow into the converter. Mechanics will say its the solenoid, which it can be in some cases, but if you tap the converter with a hammer on the bottom solenoid, it should break the wax and the car should start. A few people i know have had the same issue and had the solenoid replaced, but the issue keeps happening.
Best thing to do is get your jets and diaphragm cleaned, but in the short term, take the car for a good 2hr or more highway drive, and change where you buy your gas from. |

Did you ever get to the bottom of this?
I had similar issues - usually the engine cutting out while still cold (first 2 minutes of running) then not wanting to start again. The mechanics put it down to waxy gas. I haven't had any dramas lately - there was one time a few months ago when it cut out, but then started again no worries. Just this week, I got an OBD2 scanner and have the same error code as you. I'm not sure if it's telling me my solenoid is still playing up - or if it is something historical from when I had dramas before. |

The primer soloniod is a common problem on Egas models it seems...
Cleaning the idle jet is pretty simple too. There is a write up on AFF for it in the LPG section... I have an issue myself, starts first pop no probs and dies, then restart all good... Hot cold doesnt matter, only happened after I replaced my LPG convertor with a second handy.... I might change over the starter as I have a good second handy spare that looks almost new...

I had same problem with my dedicated gas ba especially on cold winter mornings,
The thing just wouldn't start. I park it outside and the problem is the wax in the gas hardens up on the rubber diaphragm in the gas converter thanks to the cold weather. This restricts movement of the diaphragm making it hard to start. What you need to do is take out the battery, remove the plastic box it sits in and through it away, now go and buy the biggest a** battery you can fit on the tray. Now in the morning mine cranks 100 mph and starts every time |
