Yep, but its probably got shorter diff gears. Still fairly crap. If they upped the KW too much on it, it would make the base model 3 valve V8 redundant, not good for cash income for ford. I reckon they could take it to 195KW though, just to beat the holden on paper (it aleady beats in real word though heh he :) )

yes, but the holden came out later then the ford...
I still think you get what you pay for you get the sporty interior, body kit, wheels, suspension etc... worth the extra 12k.

I could sacrifice 12 granfd for a set of 18's, full exhaust, Koni's, tinting, SR kit, BA edit, 3:45 LSD ... and so on ... inside may be basic. but outside would look better than an XR.

the ba xr6 n/a is a joke and has given the previous xr6 models a bad name imo

I was surprised when I found out the n/a XR6 is the same engine as the XT ... and then I drove one ... it was a lot slower than I thought. Although it does handle pretty well over the standard XT on the open road/twisty mountain road.

I scare a few people in my Territory though ... it's a wolf in sheep's clothing ... especially with a 15.9 factory 1/4 mile time. For a 2.1 ton vehicle.

What are you on about its given the other xr6s a bad name, most people reckon its one of the best xr's that has left the ford factory. Correct me if im wrong, but from the times ive seen the ba xr with manual trans is quicker than any of the other xr6's with a 5 speed. Also, try performing similiar mods to another xr such as an el or ed and see which one gets the bigger gain. One user, i think silverbullet pulled a 14.8 in hot weather with a cai, full exhaust and chip and thats with an auto. For those mods and when u take into consideration the weight of the car its bloody quick. What times have people achieved with these exact mods on an auto falcon thats previous to a BA?

I dont know about you guys but i have seen times from the same magazine saying that a ba xt does 0-100 in 8.4 whereas xr does 8.1.
Later on wheels said the ba futura ( this months issue ) does 0-100 in 8.2.
The quickest ive seen for the xr6 is 7.7 when they compared it to the sv6.

Sorry to bore everyone with the long post, just wanted to have my say.

Your only saying that s**t because the XT came with the same power output if it had came out with say 162kw you would be praising the XR6's output.

that may be true but didnt previous versions of falcons and xr6's have the xr6s with more power? thats the way it should be.

Im sick of ford limiting the NA six and the turbo six just to keep it behind the v8. why does the v8 have to be better? go the six! :)

Let's just say Japan have there turbos and Oz have there V8's that's how things are here, You will never see a NA 6 put it other a turbo in Japan and you will never see a 6 in Australia have more power then an 8.

XRCIST,

I know you have the xr6 and will stick up for it just like i have an xt and stick up for it.

The times you quoted for the xt is a joke if you are going to post it please be fair and have a look at the wheels mag and read the times again.

In case you dont know the xt and xr6 have a 7.7 to 100 and a 15.5 1/4 mile.

This is a fact and has been proven may times (which i have personally seen over 20 plus) xt's run 15.4 - 15.6.

If an xt runs a 8.4 to 100 like you quoted well it must really haul a*** after that if it pulls consistent 15.5.

By the way the futura does an 8.0 and a 15.7.

I have never seen a xr6 n/a run the quater so i cant say what they do.

If i had the extra money i would have bought the xr6, i think it is a better car overall but it is definately not the faster of the two. (i put them even)

Anyway since we both have the same engine/gearbox if you really want the ba to go well look at what nizpro (www.nizpro.com.au) is doing with it, like exhaust, ext cai CAMS and flasher unit. making around 240 fwkw.

how bout we solve the argument and put a BA XR6 engine into an AU XR! light and fast ... who really cares ... the BA is a bloody nice car, No matter what, the XR6 N/A and standard falcon were never meant to be fast, that is why they are the same engine power, the XR6 has moved into a more comfortable role as a sports model. If you want a race car buy a ferrari.

who said anything about a race car, we are talking about a xt and a xr6.

Why have you done mods to your car according to you you should have a ferrari.

Yea but towing caravan and six kids on holliday is a hassle the a Ferrari...
The XR6 should have more power even if its better exhaust...But the XR8's were like that in the past...
I guess the B.A's XR6 has lower ratio diff to XT ??
