(just interested ) I would have thought that the manual would have had the edge, especially off the line... Also, the Ford dealer that told that bloke that a manual will cost MORE. What a load of s**t!!! It's the auto that is the cost option, not the other way around.... well i came to sort of the same conclusion after i posted this 6 months ago, have a read through it. http://www.fordmods.com/forums/viewtopi ... highlight=

What a load of s**t!!! It's the auto that is the cost option, not the other way around.... I drove a couple of manual XT's when I was looking for mine (which is auto btw) - there's not many of them around, I can tell you. The auto is definately quicker - the 5 speed box is really a bit too clunky to be good for serious hooning. Technically, all BA XT's were manual with automatic as a cost option, but pretty well everyone gets an auto because we're turning into a nation of fat Americanized lazy slobs, the land of the automatic transmission and home of the fat. Not that I'm knocking autos.. I prefer it, because I too am lazy

have been in a auto xt; didnt think much of it at the time.
personally id like the auto, not in ba tho - i would want the 6 speed with triptronic. perfect for the lazy, bit of control when you need/want it..

Interesting. I was pretty impressed when I had a drive of my mates XT. Admittedly, I had come straight out of my Auto ED There pretty bloody quick for a stocker. They rip burnouts pretty well too, even with 17's on 'em

I was bloody impressed with my mates BA AUTO UTE and there's only ever been one other auto Falc that's impressed me (XR6T ). The bloody thing had nearly as much grunt as my car and he's is stock... FNP, I appreciate that you've driven both manual and auto BA XT, but I need 0-100 and 0-400 metre times Seat of the pants is hard to judge by (unless there really is a noticable difference) when talking about the same powered vehicle. Plus, in a Motor mag dyno test, a manual produced 4rwk more than an auto......come to think of it, I think they did a 0-100 and 0-400 metre test on it. I'm at work at the moment, working hard.............................................when I get home, I'll check it out and let you guys know.... |

I have a JMM DEV3HL kit installed and high flo cat with s/s 2 1/2" exhaust. I've had her on the dyno and she punched out 149rwk |

I'll have a BA XT Auto 1/4 time after tonight. Maybe also a BA XR6 Ute Manual time as well, depending if the driver b**ch up or not. The XT has beaten the Ute before, not officially though. If you know what I mean
