Chris and I hired a BA XT a couple of months ago just to have a cruise in and we were pleasantly suprised at how smooth and well it ran...I'd go for the BA for sure if you want a newer car, but I suppose it depends if ya gonna buy a car to drive as is.

I've driven 4 BA XT's and 5 AU XR8's and in my opinion the XT was an awesome car but it just didnt really grab me. I loved driving it and the cabin was great but it just didnt have the feel of the XR.
You floor the XT and it did go decently hard but a 6 cant compare to an 8. Engine aside, the AU XR was just a betetr option for me. I made my decision and now I have a car I not only love driving but also it's more than just a car if you get me. And to all you insurance companies, F___ you

Nah, look at is as the package. The AU is the sports pack, has the sport brakes, sport suspension, sports seats and so on. The XT is still primarily designed as a family cruiser.
And besides that, the AU III XR8 is a little less common than the BA, and that body kit on them looks horn!! (Must say, the only AU that gets my vote) f**k it man, well done, and have fun!! |

I had the same problem, i had to decide between a new XT or an auIII Xr8. I chose the ba and i havent looked back. i have lowered it, put a lukey exhaust with quad tips, limo tint, changed the brakes to different rotors with threaded and drilled discs, racing off the falcon and xt bucket seats and a few other little cosmetic changes. Plus im putting on 19" 5 spoke chromies, and i have taken off the falcon and xt badge. i get looks all the time, and people always say they like the job i have done on it. I wanna get into the motor now . . . does anyone have any suggestions?
GO the Ba . . . . YOU WONT REGRET IT, and u will save on insurance

I will only ever drive XR's and own XR's. Once you've been bitten by the XR you cant go back. There is too much pride in it for the owner/driver.
I will own XR after XR until the day I die |

I've got an AUIII XR6.
Looking back, I wish I'd got an XR8 instead though. Note to self: next time I have $$$ to spend and need a new car, get (at least) 8 cylinders. If you want grunt, either s/c the BA I6 (costly + insurance hassle), or get some N/A AU XR8 lovin. N/A sixes don't cut it for me in the torque (read: seat of pants) dept. Mine's nice, but not good enough. My rambling probably doesn't help you much though. Have fun. |
