What kind of socket were you using? Did you use a good 6 side or a 12 side? With a whole lot of torque applied the 12 sided sockets will slip quick smart. Also some of the cheaper brands don't have the tolerence of say Snap-on and king-chrome and are a bit 'loose' in their fit.
I hate rounded bolts. Nothing like 1 or 3 to make a good job turn into a nightmare!

The problem is dodgy sockets, not dodgy bolts.

maybe they have been used a few times, when they should have been replaced. I used a rattle gun socket, with a long bar, on mine to undo them.

old crap socket and weld it to the head bolt that way it cant slip off |

another way i've done to get em out is to run a drill down the guts of the bolt. pilot hole first and then a drill bit bigger than the shank of the bolt to remove the bolt head altogether. just make sure to use heaps of grease and rags to catch the cuttings.
