im aware this probably comes up alot but i think this is different . on tuesday night i was driving home from work when the car started misfiring really badly and shaking.
i got home and parked the car. the next day i decided to remove the head as i had a suspicion that that was the cause of my problems. and sure enough i found all the cylinders about 4 or 5 cm full of coolant. the next day cylinder 2 and 5 had no coolant in them while the rest had held theres. i didnt have any rags at the time to remove the coolant. so i took the head to a shop and got it checked out. it had cracked the water jacket in cyliner 3 into a valve. i was expecting it to have something wrong so i wasnt surprised i then got a full recod one form the shop. i also replaced leads and spark plugs. i also have extractors ( im going for detail). i fitted it all up changed the oil and got to start it. it ran really badly went for a short drive to see if it improved. it didnt. a list of all the things ive tried and ruled out. -bad fuel drained tank refilled with about 15l i dont think its the filter only 5000ks old. -lead and plugs i tried with the old leads and plugs it didnt change. -im reletively certain it is timed properly all marks seem to be where they should. -disconnected battery incase it was a computer thing. -checked spark alll seem weak so im leaning towards coilpack. -i had fitted the stock exhaust gasket to my extrasctors this was suggested to be the problem so i put the old gasket in still there. the new gasket was restricing a little bit -checked that rockers were getting oil they are. -triple checked that leads were all on the right postions. -triple checked all vaccumm hose i touched or might of dislodged. -triple check all plugs that i might of knocked off. also when it is running if i take the lead off number five there is no change but if i remove number one it gets worse so im thinking its a coil fault. the other things ive considered are a cracked block not sure if this is possible and maybe one of the rods bent a little so it run bad? any ideas would be appreciated thanks heaps |

i think i can rule out a cracked block as i took out the plugs to day and used a straw to check for any water in all the cylinders and there was none.

If you had water in the bore you may have bent a rod, was that checked?

I'd try coils first and see what happens. If that doesn't solve your issue check your fuel filter just in case. Having a tank sit for a while without movement will have sediments line the bottom of the tank and near the pump pick up (assuming there may be dirt and such in the tank). Even though there is an in-tank filter, it will still pick up the fine grit that gets stuck at the external filter.
