Ah, spoken like a true turbo fan! Y'all need to respect the elders of the ford modular V8 family. They were cutting decent times before the Barra 240T was more than a twinkle in Ford Australia's eye (2000 Cobra R - 12s out of the box with an NA 5.4).

For the sort of money your looking at it really isnt worth putting a n/a ba motor in. You looking at minimum $10g to fit it all where as u could work the ef motor to about 170rwkw for about $6g. Or leave it completely stock while your on your p's, save your money, and buy a xr6t in a few years.

if your talking about an e-series motor.. not gonna happen.. a N/A BA to 230rwkw.. can be done but you will definatly be pushing your luck alot.. i believe nizpro got around 270rwkw out of a NA BA.. with A LOT of work to it..

Heyo,
you could always put your BA engine into something a bit older and lighter, if memory serves, a basic XF falcon is only 1350kg, 182kW in that would rip! almost double the power of the carby engine they came out with.... or just stick with a standard BA, as was mentioned they r getting pretty cheap. The couple that i have driven go pretty hard, then just work on making it lighter (no laws agaist that) and its cheap! Piss of a few things that r heavy, power windows, central locking, air con, spare wheel, sound deadening stuff under carpet, etc... Or get the ute where the back half is just the chassis... just a few crazy ideas... cya Rene. |

You get pulled over for RWC check with no spare wheel in there and prepare for a yellow shield.
What is the point of removing all the luxuries from a car? At BEST you'll save like .1 of a sec, not really going to help you much. |

which state is it where you can have no spare and not be defected, but if you have a bald spare you get fined?
if you're after a quick car, buy a datsun ute, throw a ca18 or sr20 in there and watch it b0Ogie!! personally, there is no real point putting a 6cyl ba motor in an ef if it's n/a

Understood. I cant turbo it anyway; What about the AU VCT motor? I'm after 250 or so NA kW at the crank . Funds are very limited but total including car , i dont want to exceed $10 K. Would the motor maybe handle nitrous?

Unfortunately for you, you appear to be caught under the new p plater laws of NSW.
This not only restricts you from turbo and supercharged cars, but also cars with modified engines- or changed engines to something non standard. Basically, you can't have anything truly (or even remotely) fast..except a Lotus Elise. I wanted a car so so bad and so I went and bought one. Now I've figured out that I could have saved roughly 9 grand if it wasn't for that car- and I've only just had it for 6 months. From my experience, it is definately worth saving up and getting something better a little later on, especially with you being caught inder these crappy and stupid new laws. ...I'm 20 BTW, Green P's. |

I believe that would be Victoria! No spare required, but if you've got one and you install it then it must be roadworthy. You can however carry a bald spare, the onus is on the driver when it is installed on the car.
