does anyone know if the barra 4.0l has the capability of running a dissy instead of the coil on plug set up?

anything is possible but the ECU is so intertwined with everything else that i would imagine it would be a nightmare and not worth the trouble.

Short answer no as there is no hole or gear for a dizzy to run from.
However i do think it may be possible to still make it run using an EF ecu as they run quite happily without a sequencer (it would also be relatively easy to replicate the sequencer on a barra engine). Just need to run coil pack instead of coil on plug.

sorry i will rephase my wording, what i am asking is does the barra have the provisions for a e-series dissy to fit in the block and the internals to rotate the dissy shaft ?

stockstandard please ignore my last post we must have posted at the same time , to be honist i have no idea at all about the barra set up its all news to me. anyways here's the full story my 92 falcon has done 330,000 on its original engine and its getting tierd, the rest of the car is in fairly good condition and i am rather fond of the car, i had planned to put my ed tickford head on a bottom end that has done stuff all work but the head needs a lot of work $440 worth to be exact and i can pick up a low km au engine for $450 so i was thinking about that but then i thought if i am going to the troble of setting up a au engine i might as well set up a barra, i can get one that has done under 50,000 for $850. besides no dissy what other probs my i run into ?

Just run it on a standalone ecu and you wont have any dramas. youll need a custom loom though but saves the stuffing around with the ford ecu

add the fact that it doesnt fit under the bonnet.

and after all the money involved in that he'd be better of putting in as low kms E-series motor or AU block with EF/EL head and work it....for like 2.5K u can get a very strong setup.

the barra has a completely different sensor setup. ie no hole for dizzy/cam angle sensor. i know cos theres one over there ---->
you WILL need a wolf or similar to run it. but advantage is that with a wolfv500 you can have seq ign. and inj., fully adjustable cams, so full control. but the BA has the SAME sump as an AU, so if you can fit an AU motor in your car, you can fit a BA. just costs are alot more. |
