Hey
I just reset the idel on my 93 EF because the idle was way out before after a friend touched the idle screw and messed it all up. This is the procedure i followed: Disconnected the battery for 30+ mins to reset ecu disconnected ISC started car (it wouldnt start) bumped the idle screw up until car started and idled at around 750RPM I then left the car to sit in N and D for a while ran the aircon and move the steering a bit and took it for a drive. It is idling in N at around 900RPM and idling at around 700-750 in D However when the car is in N and i put my foot on the accelerator and rev it and then let go of the pedal the revs drop and then randomly by itself go up again, hold for a little bit then drop down and settles to idle... Is this the ECU learning or is there a problem somewhere???? Was the procedure i used to set the base idle correct??? Any help would be gr8 Thanx |

Pretty much. Though you don't need to reset the ECU. Just disconnecting the ISC whilst doing your adjustments.
Doesn't hurt to reset the ECU once in a while though. Only it will need to re-learn everthing later. Also if your running a standard cam thats idling a little fast, should be around 750 in N or P

The base idle is 750rpm in neutral/park with a/c off. Disconnecting the battery only erases the KAM. The best way to clean up the ECU is to erase old fault codes with the diagnostic plug. After about a week the KAM has re learnt but is back to the setting just before it was erased.
