dnt bother with the diff gears no point in chageing them go for you power first then worry bout the diff gears. id suggest for more power in getting either the f6 typhoon airbox or go full after market cold air induction, give it a flash tune, extractors, 2.5" sports exhaust, thats pretty much about all you can do for under 2k.

diff gears are a good idea and you will probably feel the difference more than if you got an exhaust and tune

If you want better launch at the lights, can't go wrong with better diff ratio as well as maybe an LSD while you're at it.

If you want good power figures from the dyno, I say go with exhaust and tune. You can feel the power, but it won't pick up as fast as an upgraded diff.

it would be a 3.23 or 3.27 standard, I would put it to 3.91 ratio

It won't be limited slip if its an xt. Definitely get a limited slip and throw some 3.9 gears in.

has it got high performance or lsd written on the tag on the diff housing? if so its lsd, but as mentioned above if its an xt its highly doubted that you have an lsd unless another person put it in the car before you bought it

anything to improve flow will improve performance and economy when we can keep the foot off the floor

preety much the whole list of options that the fairmont had could also be ticked on the xt. its just not many if anyone optioned them coz if they were going to they would just get a mont.

my car is a good example.. optiond with v8 and rear electric windows.

Locate your balls and punch them...hard.

Assuming the OP has 4 speed, 3.9's will be your best bang for buck mod. I would go an LSD at the same time if you don't have one.

In regards to factory options, I have an AU Falcon S factory optioned with LSD, IRS, Tickford Body Kit (ticky compliance plate) and heavy duty tow kit

Seriously do people google "f**k up modifications for Fords owned by Jews" and get linked straight to this site nowadays?

AU,factory fitted tickford kit/IRS, t5,Sports ryder/KYB: gone.
