I need to have a good think about what you say. Always happy to learn more. It led me to an amp that was open circuit (if that is the correct terminology) somehow to its earth. Disconnected that and the battery doesn't go flat. Sorry to highjack thread. neil |

Connect everything back up the way it normally is... Get inside the car Remove the fuse panel cover to the lower right of the steering column Remove one fuse Set meter to DC amps 20 or 10 amps scale place red probe on the right side of the fuse hole place black probe on the left side of the fuse hole record the current and direction (positive or negative number) replace the fuse repeat with another fuse repeat with another fuse keep repeating until all fuses have been tested... place list of currents on here and which fuse they were linked to we will go from there... I'll trace the circuit diagrams and tell you what to unplug to try... Does that make sense?

Sorry to highjack thread. neil open circuit implies that no current flows so that couldn't be causing it to go flat... an amp that was always on would? the amp itself was faulty or the way it was wired? not short circuit? if it were short circuit it should have blown a fuse... If you hooked the battery positive to the earth (the body is joined to the negative) can you imagine the sparks that would fly? 550cca with a car battery or there abouts...

The fuse is like a nail - 100 amp from memory. Maybe something in the amp took the 'edge' off it . Either way I think I have a fried amp .
