What do you call cheap? 1600 for an atmo BA engine? I call that pretty cheap. And it has been done before. Just look at JETXR.

Who had to cut a whole in the bonnet to make it fit.
Legality issues? |

hmmm 1600 for a standard motor be lookin at 6000 for a turbo motor, then add 2 grand for a decent aftermarket ecu, plus fitting etc and other bits and peices that would be needed, then you wikll prob need a custom bonnet done with a bulge or something like that to make it fit, would look pretty good though

you don't necessarily need an aftermarket ecu unless you have all the bcm, smartshield and ecu etc. But it wont be an issue soon with a device CAPA will be bringing out which will alow you to just use a ecu and no bcm and no smartshield barrel

I personally priced this up at the start of the year and went f##k when i sat down and worked out after engineers certificate and all the other stuff the cost wouldve been close to $12000 some of you would disagree but hey that was with everything done right first time.
Id rather throw a snort tubo kit than stuf around. Peter

Id rather throw a snort tubo kit than stuf around. Peter I believe you, and it would cost minimum half of that to put a n/a BA i6 in.

Its out an about on the roads, i guess it cant be illegal out and about on the roads does not make it legal. it easy to keep a car in rego for the time of a biuld and then just fail to have it checked and keep on driving. there is no way that car would pass a road worthness inspection like that. |

The whole legality issue is a grey area. Cars like that are clearly illegal but still they roam the streets alomost every day without so much as a raised eyebrow from the cops. They only get nabbed when those cars are seen in a trouble spot. i.e. where hoons hang out together.
He could fit a reverse mounted scoop like the yanks and keep it 100% legal but many people see that as very ugly looking. |
