I have seen an ED manifold on a x-flow, but it needed modification. I think the port spacing is correct but the bolt pattern is different.

I cant see how it would be, what am I missing? Unless it isnt going to physically fit in the x-series engine bay's I cant think of how it would be different to fitting a pre-bbm manifold (besides switching the runners). From what I can tell it is just a matter of cutting the flange of an x-series manifold and getting it welded in place of the BBM's flange.

So get over your "reason", spend ten minutes to register and check it out, if only for that posting, which pretty much covers the whole subject + pics + follow up after testing.

Pre BBM and BBM manifolds look pretty much the same width away from the engine, so room shouldn't be an issue - pre BBM manifolds fit easily in an XG engine bay as std for example, so a BBM manifold shouldn't be any different. The BBM manifold rises higher than the pre BBM, but as you've seen from the fordforum pics, the pre BBM turned upside down rises even higher. So theoretically, a BBM manifold would take less modification as you've mentioned. Maybe you should reply to the fordforum post you've mentioned earlier, and ask the guy why he didn't use a BBM manifold - he may know a few hassles we haven't thought about - why didn't he settle for an XF EFI manifold in lieu of a pre BBM E series one ??

In that engine the BBM would just get in the way. It is not a daily driven car and makes all its power at high rpm so there is no need for the long runners.
