ok, i workled out that then engine goes clockwise. My problem now is that the belts won't budge when i pull on them. Ive removed the spark plugs to stop compression.

You need to remove the tension from the belts, go to your local auto parts and buy a manual they do come in pretty handy

i got the manual, all it says is rotate the engine clockwise, doesn't say how. In my cfi gasket replacement guide from e-series.com.au, they say to just pull on the belts.

Better go get a bigger socket

If the plugs are out and it's in neutral it shouldn't be that hard to turn.

Somethings VERY wrong if you cannot turn the motor over with the plugs out Even high comp motors turn freely without plugs in. Have you got the car in neutral :?: have you had your wheaties :?:
