Sorry to bring up an old thread
Mickyyy mate i think you need a diesel engine Fitting a set of headers simply will not give you what your looking for! You want power under 2500rpm well you would need a supercharger. No set of headers, exhaust system or aftermarket cam will give you big power increases at revs as low as 2500rpm its just not possible My advice to you is to go drive a whole heap of different cars. I have not driven a car (besides mates supercharged 6.0 hsv maloo) that has as much low down power as ford's 4.0 ie. under 2500rpm. Go drive a 220kw 5.7 gen3 they have nothing at all down real low |

^agreed go drive other cars and then u will realise how much power the standard ford 6 has down low, and the SOHC has way more then the later DOHC versions too.

good to see an old thread keep going and have learned more since 2008 and its all about velocity, and if i were to get a set i would buy them from the below as he will make it in the primary pipe size and length i want.

Just to add, I noticed that the Tiger brand headers you can get on eBay have 38mm pipes.

Theyre basically a Pacie 4499 copy. I had no issues with them, and only upgraded as I found a set of 4480's for cheap cheap. |

(makes sense because I believe it's the same company) 38mm pimaries, down to a 3 inch collector which I have piped to a 3 inch magnaflow cat and out a mandral bent 2.5 inch exhaust. Engine is tickford xr6 has a T5 gearbox.. I wanted low end grunt and as wide a power peak as possible which is why I went for the interference design of the Genies (tri Y). They won't peak as high as the pacies, but the chances are good that the peak will cover a wider section of the rev range. I love low end grunt, which is why I'm trying to get an M90 charger bolted under my intake manifold.... because the boost comes on from idle in a PD charger. My hope isn't max power figures, in fact if I could get to 200rwkw with the charger, I'd be happy I guess.. I am more after monster torque at low rpm.. and the lower the better.. Since power is torque x rpm.. that doesnt' bode well for massive power figures, but it's great for drivability and sheer "pull a sailor off your sister" grunt. |

I used to have a set of motivators, I think you will find that motivator used to be pacemaker before it was pacemaker, or some kind of throw off.
They were fine extractors, alot better than the standard manifold I replaced them with anyway... I think unless you've spent alot of money elsewhere, or plan to, extractors are extractors.

However my n/a 6 still made 157rwkw with those headers so id agree with you in saying anything is better than stock But i do think there are gains to be had with quality exhaust systems, because with my AU VCT i had pacie headers with a mandrel bent system and it defintely had a bigger improvement compared to when my EF copped the same treatment but with press bent headers/exhaust |

Fitting a xr6 fuel pressure regulator gets the auto EF/EL going a little better down low. A V-series Holden fuel filter also can be used and it is cheaper..... food for thought???
