Hey guys,

recently stripped teeth on my EL xr6's camshaft and instead of just putting a standard one in I would like to put a mild grinded camshaft in, I know there are already topics on the forum in regards to brands but I'd like to know the best places around the area to help me out,

I have just moved to an area near Caboolture and willing to travel for a good price and service!

Advice on best cam brand/ grind would be appreciated, I want it to run well without being too lumpy. Just something to give me that bit of extra fun,

Car currently has a cat back exhaust (soon to be finished with pacemakers and a high flow cat)
Will be getting a Big mouth system for induction
Will be getting new lifters, better injectors and timing chain at time of new shaft
Will be also getting an aftermarket chip to accommodate those mods

Thanks,

Steve.

I would be looking at a Wade 1673 or a Wade 977B, you will get a decent increase from mid to top end. The 977B may be a little bit lumpy for you if you want it to idle like stock.

From what the mechanic was saying it could possibly be from old age as it should have been a stock oil pump.

It is where the cam meets the oil pump and distributer if that helps.

Apart from a mild grind, is there anything else you can suggest when doing this job?

Like everyone I'd like to keep this on a budget.

I think your confused, the cam is in the head..
where the distributor and oil pump are is the aux drive gear..
sounds like the aux shaft has failed on the dizzy/oil pump drive, not the cam..

Ford Performance at Yatala have a few Crow cams, and they are clearing them as they are changing business direction (moving into brakes). worth at least giving them a call
