Howdy all

Its me again, this time I'm seeking any information regarding the best 'ford made' cam produced in the E series (not counting EL Hybrid and AU).

I've got an ED 91AA with pacey 4499's, 2 1/2" exhaust (and 2 1/2" hiflow cat on the way), and EA intake pipe + xg/xh ute intake snorkel (probably going to go BBM soonish though). I want to make a little bit more power by doing anything I can for as little as possible (very limited student budget) and I've been looking at cams. I have an XR6 cam with me here that I took out of a tickford motor I found in an EF or early EL fairmont ghia. I was intending to chuck that into my engine and do my valve stem seals while I was at it, but I've heard that there isn't much of a gain apparently? apparently there is a cam that came in the EA (Carby model I think?) that is supposedly bigger and better, if not the biggest stock cam of all E series.

I'm sort of confused now as to what I should do, I need guidance LOL. Does anyone know for sure what the "biggest" stock cam is? or at least whether its worth putting an XR6 cam in in the first place?

Thanks, Mark :)

Go to a wrecker, pick a part or ebay and find an EL BBM and EL ECU. Install these and add a degree or 2 of timing. A lot better than swapping in another factory cam.

Edit: you also need the BBM solenoid and EL throttle cable, maybe something else, can't remember right now.

Tickford cam/head combo would be best, IMO.
As mentioned above, EL ECU, and get a J3 for it.

an ea cam is said to be "best" of the stock cams, cant recall which engine model it was in. a few people on here are running them with a ported head and have good results but im unsure if thats just because of the headwork

Been there, done that....EA 3.9 MPFI cam.....has different timing and duration than the EB/ED 4.0 cams.
The EA cam is "dirtier" than the EB/ED 4.0 cam....you know, emissions wise.
