hey guys
Wanna get a new exhaust on my BF xr6 and i know its gonna bring up the check engine light because of the 2 O2 sensors i know this has been touched on so many times but every thread i look at just has a bunch of blokes arguing before someone answers the actual question, so a couple things: What is the best way to turn off the MIL light? -Will a reset of the ECU fix this? -Can i do something to the O2 sensor itself? -Is there any other way to do this besides flashing your car or giving it a custom tune? cheers in advance

you can put the o2 sensor into the new exhaust, however it would be tricky to get the right placement for correct readings, seeing as how its now a bigger space that the gasses are in giving it a different mix amounts. you can have your ecu flashed to have it removed via a program that overwrites the ecu making it think the 2nd o2 sensor doesnt exist. or you can get a tune with that program included while your at it. all the mil light is telling you is that the o2 sensor is getting the wrong reading, so therefore something must be wrong with the motor. when this is detected it leans out or enriches the fuel mix depending on how it sees the gas mix in the exhaust. so you may find it a bit chuggy, or uses more juice or even not much difference until you get it flashed.
