Hey guys we just have a question about my missus BF XR6 N/A ute, The engine sounds like a Prius and we would want to know why?
We have had a 2.5inch catback fitted last week but still has the Prius sound from the front. What is the cause for it and can it be removed? hahaha cheers

If you are referring to a whining type sound that is more audible with the windows wound up, I believe it is the power steering pump.
My DOHC in my EB Wag does the same thing. Weird is the only description really. Cheers BenJ

we need to replace the belt as that is now squeeling or just tighten it.

There is only 1 belt which should be self tensioning.
Could also be a worn bearing in one of the idler pulleys or the belt tensioner itself. Does the power steering pump have fluid in it ? common for leaking out of the O ring underneath amd the make noise when they run dry.

Power steering pump is full, It seems to go with the revs just a quiet engine sound

I can hear the power steering pump on my BA over the exhaust which is pretty damn loud, but I know the sound you're talking about, i think its just the sound the engine makes (that's the only way i can describe it lol)
