Hows it goin?

A mate of mine just gave me a new BF panel filter. Long story short i dropped it in and it seems to fit. Is there much of a difference between the two?. Just wanting some info as I've only owned the car for 5 days and am no mechanic.

Cheers
:)

Well I'm doubting that..

If i put it the correct way ( with all corners matching up ) it has this gap at the bottom..
Though if put in the other way around, it seems to fit?.
