:?: i have a bf xr6t 6sp auto and the other day i went for a spin through the pass after the car idleing for about 20mins with a/c on went to head home and the car would not rev over 4grand??? it did this for about 15 mins then came good and has not done it since? is there anyone who has had similar fault and if so what cure if any. i am open to any suggestions.. ps. it did not log any codes..

welcome to fordmods.com... we can hear you!!!.. .. -its the equivalent to shouting!!!.... just normal font is ok..

4000rpm still seems to high for some kind of a limp home mode... what was the dash heat guage indicating?? more than half way??

As ford freak said XR6T engines slowly shut themselves down if they are getting too hot. and as they cool they start restoring power.

8-) it was just under half way on the temp.. there you go i did not no that they shut down with heat learn something new every day cheers... :)

A mates SS did the exact same thing, after trying everything found out the cats were blocked.

The gear indicator flash 'D' if so that's the trans in limp mode (different to the engines limp mode).

Mind you I've only ever had a problem at the drag strip after a big burnout.

yep collapsed cats can produce these symptoms. If it happens again, get it checked out
