So im looking at a camtech 809, its got .602" lift and 108 lsa. My ticky head is shaved 30 thou and im running an au mls gasket, is it going to work? Also how do I know my compression ratio? Thanks in advance!

That combination will definitely work.

I was running a Camtech 830, similar to the 809 but not quite as much lift, in my ED.
Head was a EF Tickford shaved 40thou. and pacemaker headers.
It was very impressive, so much quicker than a stock XR.
Likely you will need to run it on 98 premium fuel.

You will need to upgrade valve springs too.
Valve clearance is not an issue, you can shave the head as much as you want on these things.
I also recommend a vernier adjustable cam gear, although not absolutely necessary.

I would suggest that you look into a j3 chip for it before you fit the cam, it will be an absolute pig without a decent tune to suit the cam

Hope this helps.

How do I find out my compression ratio? It says that particular cam needs min 11:1 comp. Not sure if id have that much, would it still work if I was a bit shy of 11:1 comp?

It'll still work. Just might not pull real hard until the cam comes into its power band.

To find compression ratio you have to measure the volume of the chambers. YouTube that s**t.

Old post I know, do you remember where your piston was to deck height with your combo, mines out .003" past deck trying to get info if I can run mls gasket .028" leaving .025 piston to head clearance.

Thanks for any reply
