there should be a screw on the side that changes the air fuel mixture and then he would be able to race with the 500 on

If your donk is stayin near stock i'd go for a 350 holley but if your going to work it a bit then go a 465 and get it tuned by someone that works with carbys a lot that way you may need to under jet it a little to start with but as you do work to the motor you can put in bigger jets.
