hey guys, i know this has been covered before but i think that this is an ongoing forever changing subject. I am asking mainly for myself but im sure many EA owners would aslo like to hear about the Biggest bang fo buck available to the trusty old ea. From what ive read and felt myself the manual conversion seems to be the strongest, but for us lazy :D people, what else is a great bang for buck?..

cheers guys

Which will be useless without an exhaust.

I'd alwas say that exhaust and then extraxtors would be the best bang for buck because most cams won't work properly without good flow in the high revs.

I would also get rid of the clutch fan and replace it with twin thermos
I did this when i had my EA and it made a big difference.

I dunno what your budget is mate, but cheap extractors + exhaust and a cam will liven it up alot for under a grand.

The stage 3 alted cam wont like a stock auto.
Manual or hi-stall auto only.

If its CFI, a MPFI conversion.

I would think you would need a hi-stall for it. Might be too lumpy for the auto, and the power comes on fairly high in the rev range

Stuff being lazy, a manual is the way to go! I've been praising this too much, but I had thermos, cam, and exhaust in my auto ED 4.0L, but nothing has made such an impact like the 5-speed. A 3-speed AND 2.77 diff is going to hinder any performance.

Yup my T5 made the biggest difference in my 6 cyl EF, its a shame the same variation in performance didnt come out of the 5ltr..........oh well. After a T5 mod I would say that cam & heads are probably a good way to go complimented by the exhaust, the prob is that Ive always been let down by exhaust systems. Ive had the JMM race series on my 4ltr and now Ive got the EL 185KW XR8 extractors, both of which I didnt get a great deal out of, cams on the other hand I did and thats the reason why I now develop them for the 6 cylinder.

Aftermarket headers are a better option for the 5.0, but saying that the best upgrade for a 5.0 would have to be heads. Also, i may be biased, but i feel that NOS provides the best bang for buck anywhere, but hey thats just me
