COuldnt find anything searching, & theres no elec. section, so here will have to do.
I have a cracked head, been losing water thru a cylinder, out the tailpipe. Sometimes, mainly mornings, the EBII wont turn over, i assumed it was a buildup of water in a cylinder causing resitance or sumthin. I would get a tyre iron, put it between the bolts behind the fan, turn it a bit..it would start. Tried it again tonight, i heard a click, i think down the left side of the engine somewhere, now theres no power. I turn to acc, lights are on, turn to start, all power goes. tried a jumpstart from a mate, it turned a little, then went blackout again. Fiddled with the Neg battery terminal, noticed the interior lights came on, so I tried again, key in all good. . . . .start-blackout. My battery has 13.9V All this after i spent 100bux on chemiweld, new thermo, flush, 15L Agrade coolant etc. today for the crack. Ive shorted something havent I? or bad earth. Any advice on where to start my search PLEASE, as i know this could be anywhere. Fuses or relays? I just dont know enough yet. Thanx a heap if anyone can help, I cant win 2day. matt |

Sounds like you poor old Starter has died...
Trying to start a water locked engine wouldnt be helping issues either.... I would remove all the plugs before starting the engine and putting in the chemiweld.... thinks its time to replace/fix that engine hey.....

Damn, wish i'd thought of the plugs before.lol
And i dont have chemiweld, itscalled- CarGo Metallic SealUp. I have to flush all coolant out, as it aint compatible with glycol, Fill with water, and the SealUp, drive for half hour or until problem is fixed, go home drain again, refill with coolant. And new thermostat, just in case. As for the power blackout(with a fully charged battery), can I test the starter before removal? I need power to crank the darn thing. thanx guys |

Now Ive shorted something(again. . .my guess) in the starting system. I can get power until I turn the key onto start, and everything blacks out, i fiddle with the wires near then Neg. battery terminal, and the power restores. So, i have to find the short, before putting in my spare starter motor huh?

Tried Park and Neutral, in fact, when trying random things
after changing gear, it powered on again, but that only happened once |

Personally i would be inclined to look at the fuel pump/ecu relay, located under the radiator header tank. They are known to fail and cause similar problems.
Do your interior lights work, if so, then it isnt the smartlock module. Good luck Brett
