I totaled my old el falcon which had 140'000 on the clock. It ran beautifully with no problems. I bought another one for $1700, same model but it has done 230'000 km's. This one has a minor oil leak and it over-revs and jumps into all the gears.

I have taken the old engine and transmission out and i am wondering if it is worthwhile to swap the engine and tranny over, or to fix the current one. How much would it cost, just purely for the labour if i brought the old block and tranny to the mechanic and what should i bring from the old car. Also any tips would be of great help.

Thanks. :D

A swing in the dark, $1000? Based on the amount of work.

Bit of work. Maybe worth having a crack yourself.
