Well guys looks like I will have to buy another bottle of coolant in as many months (third since taking on the job myself) because the bloody hose from the bottom of the radiator to the water pump is leaking at both ends slightly! (after pulling it off and retightning it).
What the fudge could I of done wrong? The hose in question is from supercheap auto while the top radiator hose from Repco is not a problem at all. So next Monday I'll be up for radiator fluid (again! grr) and a new lower radiator hose). Any tips this time around on how to stop the fudging thing from leaking?

When replacing heater/radiator hoses the hose clamps should also be replaced.

super cheap auto hose is your problem. spend a few dollars more and buy a genuine or quality after market hose.

depends on what brand hose. if it is gates, thats probably the same as a repco one anyway so wouldnt matter where it came from.
i didnt think that the genuine ones were that dear anyway. But a good clamp could fix ya problem. make sure you done get stuck in the engie bay though

f**k genuine there rip off. Gates make good hoses. Also clean the area that it's sealing onto, if it's all grimy and dirty might not be seeling!

are you tightening it enough?
use a big flat blade screwdriver or even a small 1/4 inch drive socket on the screw if it has a hex head.

Replace the clamps, you should be able to replace them without removing the hose. That way you wont lose all your coolant.
If you find you really need to remove the hose you can siphon most of the coolant out. And don't forget to set the video camera up first, just in case.

Jack up the front, undo the drain plug on the bottom left of the radiator and drain it into a large bucket or tub. You will loose a bit but will recover most of it.

before you replace clamps and drain all the coolent, check the hose. Give it a squeeze, it shouldnt b squeezed it, should be hard as. If you can squeeze it in, theres a crack in it somewhere. If not, check the clamps, make sure u have them tightly around the bar and they havnt slipped off and ur just tighting them onto the hose. Otherwise yeh, replace the clamps and make sure they r TIGHT. Alot of pressure is being put on them
