you'd have work allot harder than that to stop the headers getting hot.
but yes the vent would lower the underbonnet temps.. that's why autospeed were looking into it.. more cooling efficency due to more air being drawn though radiator and intercooler etc.. and cooler over all. |

Cosworth, Evo lancer, early WRX's....they all run the vents near the front of the bonnet, where there's low pressure and the hot air can escape.
Ideally heat wrap would keep the exhaust gas hot (better flow out), while bonnet vents would keep engine bay temps down and improve airflow through radiator, etc. Result would be cool air in, hot gas out... best for power.

enough of the autospeed dribble!
that autospeed dribble you are going on about is on a smooth bonnet, once you add a bulge onto it it adds a new dynamic. there is now a new pressure difference created over the back of the bulge, like a venturi... so yes, with air passing over the bulge and the vents designed correctly, it will draw air out of the engine bay

If you say so... but I doubt it will be much since the high pressure area caused by the windscreen is only a foot and a half away.
but hey.. to each their own. |
