i still have brake shutter and i have changed ,my front rotors and pads, what would be causing this????

they seem fine and when it shutters it vibrates straight thorgh the steering wheel, it really gay

How long ago did you change your rotors and pads? Um, from what I remember when I changed my rotors, the bit you have to take out from your rotor to put back into the new rotor (I think this is the part that sits on the bearings) is not seated properly, it can cause this. A piece of paper came with my new rotors in the box (DBA Rotors) saying even 1/4mm can cause the rotor to be out of pure balance and wear unevenly, causing brake shudder. It took about 15,000 km for my brake shudder to return, but only slightly, nothing like it was before though.

Ahh, sorry no pic, but if you have a workshop manual, under the brake disassembly section, it might show you (sorry, it's not with me at the moment), but your rotors may have come with that already in the rotor.
From memory, if you look behind rotor, you will see another inserted bit, with a rubber seal around it, and on mine, I had to remove that, buy a new seal kit and replace into new rotor. It took a bit of effort taking it out, but getting it in was easier. Also, what are your wheel bearings like? Any free play, noises etc? If there worn, allowing too much play, which could cause the rotor to move excessively. Cheers, Mark. |

Try replacing/inspecting the tie rod ends.

Connects to the Steering rack to the Stub axles.. its the arm right next to the ball joint, but this will not cause brake shudder. it will cause play in the steering but not very much.

also the bushes where the upper control arm mounts to the body are prone to flogging out, and will cause a nasty shudder under brakes.

i will go with tierod ends, my rotors shuttering flogged them out it also can flog out the bashes in the rack.

i had the same problem with my eb falcon. turned out to be flogged wheel bearings...

could also just be a warped disk.

I machined the rotors on my AU in early March before driving it to QLD, it had a bit of shudder and i was expecting fronts to be the prob, when i put them on the machine they were almost perfect, the rears were causing my probs.
Now it's shuddering again and it's coming through the steering, i'm planning on going to Territory front brakes and rebushing the whole front end anyway so not too fussed. |
